3:am Wed morn; Here I am again flying through the universe at break neck speed to conjure up more dreams for my Destiny. Music on the brain as usual my ears are pop’n in sequence in this vacuum sealed chariot canuck style called Air Canada, and it all feels so surreal…
(back track 10:pm Tues) Mum in tow after her three week bump and hustle vacation out west. We are checkn into baggage at YVR after my bruda from another mother and his empress and godson in tow dropped us off in their new family van. I think to myself is this all happening, so fast, as I hear; baby I missu already…huh? …and I contemplate, “am I going to make it”; cowfoot don’t fail me now(fractured my foot footbal UF vs UF wannabe wldCup.( !
10:15pm Damn we are over weight and the baggage police up ahead is chopp’n heads and taking ca$h. I can’t afford to pay much less fund this flip & trip what’s a bruda to do…? Why not use my lucky charms…U’done know their magically delicious. I’m referring to cake, as in the proverbial sense of the word that was used to describe her attitude when she the rep aka head chopper, saw that we had broken the scale (let it be known the previous guy ahead already fuc%^ with her kool, and paid moe-foe-dollas$ ) …what was he thinking, what was I thinking. come to think of it, what was mum thinking? She was 5kg over, was it fate or free will that saved my ass-sets cause all she said was “Piece of cake” next bag…POC …it was ment to be (there more to this story… later)…we still got our swerve on and I’m thinkn what did my fellow man do that we didn’t do to deserve this…? Mum put it in perspective, “he lost his cool, I didn’t bring you up like dat” got to luv her… she got a way with words.)
5:am…Its red eye time about now crammed but confortable; I know why they call it that, and with my dread locks fly’n through air with only love to share New York’s finest (border police) awaits, looks to put iand’eye blood shot in a pickle…but as U’done know kool is the rule, rude boy, and mum knows best plus I got madd love from my friends of the friendly sky (Air Canada)…
7:45am fast tracking my ass and cowfoot in tow doing the wheelie wonka (wheelchair service) through the massive early morning rush hour stream. Eye’s a small fish in this bowl like Nemo despite warnings of constant dangers I’m blessed and approved no questions asked hell even “enjoy your stay” that was different, who knew.)
10:am…now the west coast I last left was pissing on my parade smack dab on the east coast its burning up, I need water…talk about heat wave(don’t get it twisted)…the welcome to New York greeters called in sick due to sweltering temperatures. I landed and was already lugging kilo’s over my budget to get an A/C cab, feet don’t fail me now,how much to take me to my destination…? …highway robbery! Not this cat, I’m going underground, go to take the A train, what choice what choice do I have, got to do the do, in this New York minuet.
12:pm To my surprise Jay street Metro Tech saved me the troubles of lugging my disposable life up and down obstacles of stairs going every which way but loose up in these catacombs need to get to my final destination.
12:30pm What do you know there sunsets in BK (Brooklyn) Oops here it is,36 street I swear I was back at my crib in Point Grey…the sun was try’n to shine after a rain storm as I settled into my temporary crib up here in Sunset Park ironically(i thought Sunsets were west coasts) I can see lady liberty still in drag over yonder and Manhattans tre phallic contours towering over everything… its my world for the next few months give me strength&guidance!
2:pm Called my peeps everywhere in my inner circle and local kats who got my black state of mind to tell them the good & plenty… look who’s back Bruda Linx is making attacks, got Destiny on the brain and doing the hustle. But the truth of it nobody was moving fast in this humidity…
3:pm got some much needed down time, did a little bonding with my new roomies…Pitch Black in da house…
4:pm getting acquainted with my local chinatown on 8th ave…cheak out Great Taste Dumplings http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/great-taste-dumpling-brooklyn#aX_7ekwVXaMm-YFf7HH1xg Confucius speaks madd tongues of urgency “NEXT “as he got no time to translate…eventually he took pity on my blank confusion…”must be not from around here”, and fed me like a bitch…
5:pm Did a few grocery necessities as the lag of time Zones and a touch of the heat wave started to get to me. Time for some much needed down tempo. Called pop’s told him I was safe, he was busy waving the flag of independence TnT style, big up’s… way to hold it down for the ex-pats, and next generation Trini in a state of madness…how far we have come, … how far we got to go… native sons & daughters, my roomie a daughter of the dust…I’m drifting into a New York state of mind, just set my alarm so I don’t timeout to long, got work to do, music to make, and more food for thought…
9:pm Damn I over slept its night time and food is mos-def on the brain time to sort out my living and tings…first I got to share a cerveza with my roomy Ben he’s a Jersey boy and a bit of a hip to tripster got himself a portable vinyl player to go with usb and RC inputs and dropp’n some old skool Beatles; kool runnin’s…
10:pm doing a chkn cook up with cilantro & chilli’s, bake spuds and some fresh mint salad, you know how we do…or don’t you…? out pop’s my other roomy who hooked up the iandi… grabbing some much needed eats, she a busy bee…
12:pm now sucking back a Stella I got in the nick of time shops are closing and I’m still on BC time…its all good and plenty to eventually chill wit my new honey letting her know what time it is… Day 1 coming to a close I got through it all 24hr later… 2mrw I tackle the apple wish me luck… Bless’up and keep it locked…Linx out.)
